The CMI Level 7 Qualifications in Professional Consulting have been developed by Chartered Management Institute (CMI) in cooperation with the Institute of Consulting (IC).
These qualifications are designed for Professional Consultants who want to develop their strategic skills within consulting, such as organisational structure and culture, entry and diagnosis, communicating strategies for consulting and group dynamics and facilitating skills.
Each qualification is summarised below with the corresponding UK and International fee, inclusive of VAT, tuition, course materials and registration with the awarding body. Further supplementary programme information is provided towards the end of the page, and in the FAQ.

With a more comprehensive structure, our CMI Level 7 Diploma in Professional Consulting gives you the skills and competencies you will need as a Consultant. The mandatory units focus on organisational structure and culture, entry and diagnosis, managing consultancy interventions and tools and techniques for effective consulting. This qualification also gives you the chance to improve your skills in management & leadership and coaching & mentoring through the optional unit choices. A CMI diploma in Professional Consulting is the benchmark qualification for full IC membership, and takes you another step closer towards Chartered Manager status. |

Duration
The length of time varies depending upon the time you can commit to studying. A basic guide:
Award: 6 – 8 weeks
Certificate: 18 – 24 weeks
Diploma: 12 – 18 months
Assessment
Assessment is normally via practical work-based assignments provided by ET&C. This ensures you minimise time away from work and that you undertake work study which is relevant to your own organisation’s context.
Academic Equivalences
Qualifications at QCF Level 7 portray practical skills and competences that are rated in academic terms as being comparable to Master’s Degrees, Integrated Master’s Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and Postgraduate Certificates.
Entry Requirements
These qualifications can be offered to individuals from age 19. There are no specific entry requirements for these qualifications, but ET&C must ensure that individuals admitted to the programme have sufficient capability at the right level to undertake the learning and assessment.

On successful completion of a Level 7 qualification in Professional Consulting, IC and CMI recommend a number of progression opportunities:
- Progress to other qualifications at the same level (e.g. from Level 7 Award to Level 7 Certificate etc.)
- CMI Level 7 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Management and Leadership (QCF)
- CMI Level 7 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring (QCF)
